SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS:

Shakespeare, Inc.- Assisted in designing graphite fishing rods. Performed simulated and measured dynamic analyses along with strength tests for comparison to competitors' rods. The result was a new cost-effective graphite rod that is on the market today.
ConVEL, Inc.-CMAT redesigned a constant velocity joint, using finite element analysis, dynamic analysis and QS 9000DFMEA (design failure mode and effects analysis), giving the company access to a new $10 million market.
Coastal Technologies, Inc.- Assisted in the design of mist eliminators for geothermal power plants and chemical processing plants. A computational fluid dynamics analysis was performed which resulted in a new design of the mist eliminator that achieved a higher droplet removal without exceeding pressure drop requirements.
Cox Wood Preserving Company- Completed a project that resulted in the design of a new product, with projected sales of $250,000 in the remaining 9 months of 2000. A second project is currently being discussed. A paper, "Structural Characterization of Built-Up Timber Columns" will be published in the American Society of Civil Engineering Journal of Architectural Engineering. It provides Engineers and Architects with the technical design capabilities to use the innovative new product and assist other manufacturers in this industry sector.
