Dr. Porter's South Carolina Competitiveness Initiative
Professor Michael Porter's long-anticipated study on South Carolina's competitive posture, released as part of the University of South Carolina's annual Economic Outlook Conference, proposes eight, citizen-driven action programs. These include increased support for start-ups and local firms, the creation of new institutions focused on upgrading the local business environment, and investments in research-- all areas that USC businessLINK is proud to be servicing and working to improve in collaboration with academic and economic development partners.
As Dr. Porter's work will be the foundation for building a strategic plan for our state's economic progress, we are pleased to provide an
executive summary of his findings as well as his entire
presentation.
(Monitor Group, of Cambridge, Mass, co-founded by Dr. Porter, was commissioned to study the state's economy by a public-private collaborative composed of the S.C. Department of Commerce, the Palmetto Institute, the Palmetto Business Forum and the South Carolina State Chamber of Commerce.)
